Jonkershoek Trails offers a complete outdoor experience from trail running, mountain biking, birding, hiking and so much more. MTO group is built on solid foundations with a renewed focus to reposition as a leading Pan-African timber product and solutions provider. MTO cares about their investment, their people as well as the environment. MTO Ecotourism aims to provide all with the unique opportunity of exploring and experiencing the wonders and beauty of some of South Africa’s best outdoor activities. Dedicated conservation and management efforts enable us to protect these trails so that the public is able to enjoy the breath-taking scenery they provide. The plantations offer a wide range of activities, from family-oriented right through to seasoned-hiker activities. The MTO Group has become synonymous to mountain bikers with fantastic trails; from Jonkershoek to Tsitsikamma many of the Western Cape’s most beloved mountain bike routes weave their way through MTO plantations. Three distances to choose from, all with amazing routes that include the challenge of tough climbs and technical descents balances with the fun of flowing singletrack, floating bridges and awesome vistas and of course the dramatic finish on Central Beach. All profits from the event are donated to the Kwano Cycling Academy which, in partnership with Murray High School, uses cycling as a catalyst to uplift and transform historically disadvantaged individuals and communities. The dark, pristine waters of the Eikenhof Dam provide the perfect setting for an event which appeals to the curious and competent. The inaugural Sanlam Cape Mile was held in 2015 and was a resounding success, with some of the country’s top swimmers featuring in a field of nearly 1000 swimmers.
